Both Yonkers and Mamaroneck were named among the top seven affordable places to live for foodies in all-new rankings by Realtor.com on Monday, Oct. 21.
According to the website, the two municipalities offer affordable housing options while also containing restaurants recognized by the Michelin Guide, which helps readers discover the best restaurants by listing establishments well-received by its reviewers.
Mamaroneck, which was ranked No. 6 on the list, has a median home list price of $453,188 and had 23 homes for sale as of Monday, according to Realtor.com. It also has two Michelin-recognized restaurants: Augustine’s Salumeria, located at 213 Halstead Ave., and Osteria Padre Pio, located at 501 Halstead Ave.
According to Michelin's write-up of the eatery, Augustine’s features a "laidback and modern" space and boasts meals like low-stewed, grass-fed Longhorn beef served with pasta topped with goat milk ricotta; pork chop paired with a pecan and onion ash; and sweet desserts like cannoli.
Meanwhile, Osteria Padre Pio offers authentic Italian dishes like baked corvina, "silky" pappardelle, and house-made limoncello, according to Michelin's write-up.
As for Yonkers, which earned No. 7 on Realtor.com's list, the median listing price is $271,250, which is over $1.3 million less than New York City's.
The city also boasts a Michelin-recognized restaurant: Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana, located at 1955 Central Park Ave., which is famous for its wood-fired pies.
Michelin writers recommended that visitors grab the original tomato pie with mozzarella or the famous white clam pizza.
